1950's

Before I do any research on the 1950's, I am going to write what I think it is. I think the 1950's was a time that Elvis was popular, the jive was being created, and drive in movies were really popular. Poddle skirts were the cool thing for girls to wear, and leather jackets for the guys. I also know that during this time there were a lot of bomb test going on, and we just got over a war, and started going into another one.

Well I looked up some of the shows that were in the 1950's, there was I Love Lucy, Mickey Mouse Club, and Superman. I like all three of these, they were very catchy. From girls, to guys that wanted to be Superman. They knew how to catch their audience. Then I looked up what kind of music there was and I got; Jazz music, and the legendary king of rock Elvis. They had some really crazy big hair. America was also going into a war, right after another war. That is all I could find on the 1950's. I am also glad I didn't live during this time.

Book Review

What if we were made to think and do things a certain way. What if we weren’t individuals that we were all the same? In the book Brave New World, that’s what it is like. Aldous Huxley explains what the world would be like.
The book takes place in 632 A.F. (After Ford) In this world people are conditioned to do things a certain way, and think a certain way. People don’t have babies; they have sex with whoever they want, and they are always happy.
This book is a banned book, and the reason I think it is banned is because it has a lot of opinion in it. This book can be compared to today a lot. When I read this book I thought it was funny how much this stuff is going on in our world. Though this book was written in the 1930’s. When we see how our world is going in technology, and with the drugs people can take, and how people don’t turn to religion as much anymore, we are becoming this world.
In this book there are a lot of different characters that are like people we may know today. My favorite character though would have to be Lenina. She was the crazy one in this world. I have a lot in common with Lenina, and I think that’s why I liked her so much. Though I didn’t really like the book, I liked her. She was the reason I keep on reading.
I would recommend this book to people. It wasn’t one of those books that were good cause of its plot. It was one of those books that keep you reading because it was weird and messed up.

AOW- Kids Who Skip School Are Tracked by GPS

This artical has a point. Kids do skip a lot of school especially when they hit highschool. I have a lot of friends that do skip, and I know it doesn't help them in the long run. This artical is trying to show that kids aren't just effecting there education, that they are effecting other kids education because when the skip, the school doesn't get money. I am one of those people that support this idea because I think it will keep kids out of trouble. When you have kids in sixth grade skipping school, something is wrong with the parents. I mean parents should be making there kids go to school, unless they are one of those parents that don't care what their kid does.

I did see how it was like Brave New World. In the book they do try to control the world. Come on that is just messed up. We should not try to control people this way, but it is an effective way to do things.

POW #6

Zio's was a good family reasurant. Your kids are able to draw on the paper they put on the tables, and you can just enjoy a sweet dinner with the family. I wouldn't recommend having a big party there or anything, but the food was good. Zio's is an Italian reasturant, with some American food. The reasurant was a little crowded, but had that nice Italy feel to it. It was peaceful, not to loud, and I would go back. They have many types of foods though. We have the Italian food, to Steak, to even nachos.

The waiter we had, was kind of bad. It took him awhile to get our stuff to us, he seemed a little out of it, Though that was one set back, the rest of the time was good. I tried many different foods, because I was with the family. I had the Chicken Parmigiana. ($11.79) The chicken was tender, not over cooked, just right. I have never had Chicken Parmigiana that taste so good. For the price paid for Chicken Parmigiana, you got more then enough, The amount they give you, you could of feed two kids.

The deserts were amazing. I will say though the chesse cake is still not as good as Chesse Cake Factory, but it was some of the best chesse cake ($5.29) I have ever had. The Oreo Mountain ($4.99) was also good. With the icecream, and oreo cookies on it, so good. I have never had bread pudding ($4.99) but it was oddly good.

I looked through the menu when I got to the reasturant. I couldn't find ne dish that was over $20. They are very reasonable on their prices, and give you enough food. I give this reasturant a 3 and a half stars.

In this book there is a lot of irony, but the one that stuck out to me the most was when they where in the helicopter. The helicopter ride was when the were stopped above the river and Lenina, was trying to take advantage of Bernard.

This is an example of situational irony because when we think of people taking advantage of a situation, it is usually the guy.

I think why Huxley used this was to show that, guys aren't the only ones that take advantage of the situation, girls do to.

POW #4

When we think of scary zombie movies, we don't think Zombieland. Zombieland brought a funny twist to zombie movies as we know it. From the tough guy Tallahassee, to the sweet con woman Wichita. The movie was full of nothing, but laughs and rules to surviving the zombie apocalypse.

When you take a movie that was meant to be a tv series, and turn it into a movie it turns out pretty good. When you take a college boy who wants to go to Ohio to find his parents, and a all out bad guy with two sweet girls, it is funny. The main character Columbus was going to find his parents, when he meets Tallahassee. They are on there way to Ohio, when they meet two girls. The two girls named Wichita and Little Rock con them into beliving that one was bitten by a zombie. They eventually team up and go to California. There they go to Bill Murray's house.

There is when Bill Murray is a zombie under cover, who didn't last long when Columbus was around. When it was all done with the girls went there own way, and the guys went there own way. That was when Columbus decided that he was going to go to Pacific Play Land where the girls were going, and a good thing they did. When they got there the girls, the girls where being attacked by zombies. Of course there is a happy end.

The director of this movie Ruben Fleischer has directed three other movies, produced five other movies, and made one self title. For a guy that hasn't directed much, and two writers not familier with zombie movies, this movie was great. I would give this movie five out of five stars.

#1: Cardio
#2: Beware of Bathrooms
#3: Seatbelts
#4: Double Tap
#8: Get a Kick Ass Partner
#15: Know Your Way Out
#17: Don’t Be a Hero (unless Wichita is involved)
#18: Limber Up
#21: Avoid Strip Clubs
#23: God Bless Rednecks
#31: Check the backseat
#32: Enjoy the little things

POW #3

You know life without a dog you had for 14 years of your life is hard. I miss my dog, wish I could of spent more time with him. This picture reminds me of all the good and bad times I had with him. My dog and I have gone through a lot, and thats all I can say. We have been through my mom leaving, moving to Missouri, and the move to Olathe.

Before my dad and I moved to Missouri, my mom and I took Ernie to the dog park a lot. It was so fun seeing him play with other dogs, playing in the lake, all of that and more. I remember one day the most. Bringing him home from the dog park, he was between my mom and I in the truck. I rolled the window down to far, he jumped out of the window. Good thing we were just pulling in the driveway.

Then when we moved to Missouri, and he lived with my dad and I for a couple of years before I took him over to my grandma's house. Before she had the back yard, I had to walked Ernie. Oh the one day he saw a dear was fun. NOT! He took off after a dear, and I thought he was going to go up to the highway, and get hit. Good thing for neighbors dogs because that was the only thing that stoped him. My grandma finally caught him, and a year after that she put the fence up for the back yard.

Then in July of 2009, him and I faced another changed in our lives, it was the move to Olathe! By this time he was getting really old. I knew it wasn't going to last much longer, and that's why I took as many pictures of him as I could. Then around August and September of 2010 is when I had to start thinking the worst possible thing, putting him to sleep. I knew it needed to happen because it was getting to where I was carrying him up and down the stairs, and he was having accidents.

These pictures of him remind me of how much he was there for me, how much trouble he was, but how he was a good dog. I miss him, but I know he is in a better place now.
